Commercial Account Manager

Job Summary
Manage and grow assigned customer accounts focused on HV/MV substations, transmission lines, and BESS projects by partnering with Operations and Business Development to identify, qualify, and pursue new opportunities. Serve as the primary commercial point of contact for customers, reviewing RFQs and contracts to define scope, risks, and pricing strategy while leading the development of commercial proposals with engineering and estimating teams. Coordinate internal inputs across pre-construction, procurement, and finance to deliver complete proposals, support negotiations on pricing and contract terms, and track active opportunities to drive timely responses. Maintain awareness of customer relationship health throughout project execution to convert existing work into continued future opportunities. Based in Houston, Texas, this role requires 20–30% travel and occasional extended hours including weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the power or energy infrastructure industry
- Experience with EPC project delivery
- Experience reviewing RFQs, contracts, and commercial terms
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, one-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and construction documents
- Experience supporting cost estimates or proposals for power projects
- Ability to support pricing strategies, margin targets, and commercial decision-making
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships at multiple organizational levels
- Comfortable leading customer meetings, presentations, and commercial discussions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Engineering, Construction, Pre-Construction, Procurement, and Finance
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Detail-oriented with a disciplined approach to documentation, follow-up, and opportunity tracking
- Proficiency with common business software tools including spreadsheets, CRM systems, and document management platforms
- Valid driver's license required
- Must maintain an acceptable driving record throughout employment
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without current or future visa sponsorship
- Must be able to endure prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer for a minimum of 8 hours a day
- Must be able and willing to travel approximately 20–30%
- Working extended hours, including weekends, may be required periodically
- May occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
- An advanced degree in Business or Engineering
- PE License or plan to acquire a PE License
- Prior experience managing customer accounts, proposals, or commercial negotiations
- Experience with CAD/BIM viewers and engineering document management systems
