Job Summary
Classroom Para Educators in the Springfield Public Schools provide instructional assistance, classroom support, and implement effective classroom strategies to meet diverse student needs. Responsibilities include direct instruction support to students individually or in groups, assisting with classroom activities, preparing instructional materials, managing behavior, supervising field trips, and performing other duties as requested by the Building Principal. The role supports programs such as SEBS and LINKS (Autism), with duties spanning life skills, developmental settings, language learning delays, and medical care. The district emphasizes professional development, growth pathways, and a positive, equitable work environment. A passing Work Keys/ParaPro assessment, or an associate’s degree or 60 college credits, plus U.S. work authorization by day one, are required.
Required Qualifications
- A high-school diploma or GED
- Sixty (60) Credit Hours of College Coursework or an Associate’s Degree, or a passing score on ParaPro Assessment or WorkKeys Certificate of Proficiency for Teacher Assistants
- Current authorization to work in the United States by first day of employment
- Passing scores on Work Keys reading 5, math 4, writing 3
