Job Summary
Provide direct technical support to customers and field personnel operating MWD and directional drilling equipment. Serve as the primary point of contact for troubleshooting remote equipment and operational issues, communicating directly with clients to gather data and deliver guidance. Escalate complex problems to engineering resources while monitoring field activity and documenting all technical resolutions in business systems. Consolidate field information to support rental and sales teams, cataloging data for internal leverage and providing regular updates on equipment performance. Identify recurring issues and communicate trends to appropriate internal functions while collaborating with Command Team Leads to address problems efficiently. Maintain high professionalism during customer interactions and participate in continuous training related to MWD systems and drilling technologies.
Required Qualifications
- 3–5 years of direct field experience in a directional drilling or MWD service business, preferably within North American land operations
- Strong understanding of MWD operations and field troubleshooting
- Strong computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Excel and Power BI
- Ability to analyze and organize technical and operational data
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable communicating directly with customers and field personnel regarding technical problems
- Ability to remain calm and effective when troubleshooting time-sensitive field issues
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently while knowing when and how to escalate technical issues
- Minimum 2-year technical degree or equivalent technical education and experience
- Recent MWD experience, specifically with electromagnetic (EM) telemetry, within the last 3–5 years
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience with XEM, xBolt, or similar electromagnetic MWD systems
- Prior experience with the equipment manufacturer's MWD technologies
- Previous experience supporting MWD equipment remotely from a command center or technical support environment
- Familiarity with rotary steerable systems
- Experience with additional MWD or directional drilling technologies
- Experience using Power BI or other data visualization and analysis platforms
- Previous customer-facing technical support experience
