Job Summary
Command Group Linguist (CAT II) for SOCKOR providing interpretation/translation (English↔Korean) up to seven days per week, with potential live-in field assignments up to two weeks, 8–12 hour days during surge; duties include oral and written translation of political/military and technical materials, interpretation at official functions with ROK dignitaries, and maintaining access to classified environments; required ILRT 4/DLPT 3/3/3 level Korean, TOP SECRET/SCI clearance, MS SharePoint familiarity, ability to work in high tempo and travel to CONUS/OCONUS sites; primary performance location is US Army Garrison Humphreys, Korea, with additional locations in Osan, Chinhae, Gimhae, Daegu, Seoul, and Icheon; travel may be required.
Required Qualifications
- Fluently speak, read, and write English.
- Fluently speak, read, and write Korean equivalent to ILRT 4 or DLPT 3/3/3 level.
- Able to attain and maintain access to classified areas within ROK Government and Military facilities.
- Able to follow accurately the essentials of conversations between educated native speakers, reasonably make and answer telephone calls, understand videoconference broadcasts, news stories like wire service reports, oral reports, oral and public addresses on technical and non-technical military subjects.
- Familiarity with the use of Microsoft and SharePoint products.
- Ability to work in a high tempo, high stress environment with minimal oversight.
- Valid Korean or International Driver’s License.
- Clearance: Requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance
