Job Summary

Relay patient information between EMS field providers and hospitals, triaging trauma reports and transmitting ECGs per the Trauma Activation Protocol. Monitor the CAD fusion platform and data dashboards to maintain countywide situational awareness, while managing mass casualty incident management and notifying PSAPs of OEM scene responders. Answer Dispatcher Assisted CPR calls, enter case data, and serve as the HERC Hotline Representative providing 24/7 emergency notifications. Coordinate communications between paramedic field providers and physicians, activate tornado sirens, and track activities to establish the overall state of welfare and readiness across Milwaukee County properties.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Wisconsin resident at time of application
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Current drivers license
  • Must be able to pass a criminal background, including fingerprinting, and an employment verification check
  • One year of experience with radio communication and working as an EMT/Paramedic
  • EMT/Paramedic certification
  • Lift/Carry and Push/Pull up to 30lbs
  • Must be able work any assigned shift including weekends and holidays as required
  • Position is subject to mandated schedules and unscheduled overtime
  • Basic knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets
  • Knowledge of radio communications procedure
  • Knowledge of basic Emergency Medical terminology
  • Knowledge of common Emergency Medical Services forms and reports
  • Skill in receiving and transmitting calls accurately
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to operate a radio network
  • Ability to enter and retrieve data from a personal computer
  • Ability to handle emergency calls quickly and efficiently
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to perform mathematical computation
  • Ability to work in a confined area for extended periods of time
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously with physicians, nurses and allied health personnel
  • Ability to push/pull/lift/carry up to 30lbs as needed
  • Must successfully complete the Transaction Information Management Enforcement (TIME) system training within six (6) months of hire date
  • Must be Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliant within six months of hire date

Desired Qualifications

  • Prior dispatching experience
  • At least 6 months of Emergency Medical Service, Emergency Room, Fire Department, and/or Ambulance Service experience
