Job Summary
Combustion Turbine Specialist needed to operate and maintain simple-cycle dual-fuel combustion turbines and supporting systems at Armstrong Power in Shelocta, PA. Responsibilities include starting up and shutting down turbine-generators, observing indicators, preparing plant statistical reports, maintaining logs and documentation, contributing to safety and regulatory compliance, and participating in maintenance and improvement activities. The role requires manipulating electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and control equipment, developing and conducting predictive maintenance, assisting with training of other technicians, reading complex diagrams, and working with safety gear. The position supports 24/7 plant operations with rotating shifts and requires strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills, plus a willingness to learn through a structured training program. Training will be provided via web-based programs, self-paced curriculum, and hands-on experience.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Experience with electric generating equipment and operations preferred though not mandatory
- Valid driver's license and must be insurable by company's vehicle insurance carrier
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, wiring and schematic diagrams
- Ability to pass a respirator physical and respirator fit test (if applicable)
- Ability to work rotating shifts involving weekends, holidays, backshifts, and overtime
- Capable of frequent standing, walking, lifting minimum 50lbs, and other physical demands
