Job Summary

Plan, lay-out and perform all types of pipe welding and fabrication work in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. Maintain positive working relationships with the crew, produce high-quality work safely and productively, and provide feedback to ensure materials, tools, and information are available. Inspect subordinate work for accuracy and compliance, explain deficiencies, and take corrective action. Continually seek opportunities to share knowledge, teach others, and eliminate waste such as waiting and rework. Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions, including climbing steel frameworks and lifting objects up to 50 lbs.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years' (level I), four years' (level II), five years' (level III) and six plus years' (level Sr.) experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry
  • In-depth understanding of the pipefitter trade
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, isometrics, P&ID's, specifications, safety and quality standards
  • Ability to effectively utilize all trade tools and equipment relevant to the work
  • Must pass required weld test(s) for the work being performed
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman
  • Ability to work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions
  • Ability to climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull objects up to 50lbs. on an occasional basis
  • Ability to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
  • Ability to comply with all safety standards and procedures
  • Ability to reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
  • Ability to move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas
