Job Summary
Read and interpret project plans, blueprints, weld symbols, and written instructions to perform tasks accurately. Execute GTAW, SMAW, FACW, and GMAW welds on structural components, duct work, hoppers, and various pipe types including stainless steel, chrome, and carbon. Prepare welding surfaces per specifications, select proper fillers, and assist pipe fitters with measurements and material prep. Collaborate with other crafts and communicate hazards or material needs to the foreman while adhering to all site safety requirements and quality control programs. Work under production schedule pressure, maintaining set standards of accuracy and safety across varying temperatures and conditions.
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman
- Basic knowledge of the construction processes involved in heavy industrial construction
- Knowledgeable of MIC Health and Safety programs and project specific regulations
- Ability to work different shifts and overtime as required
- Ability to work within precise standards of accuracy and follow set procedures and standards
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to- safety toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
- Must be able to abide by all safety and fall-protection requirements
- Must be able to wear and utilize all safety equipment required for work at heights
- See well (either naturally or with correction)
- Hear well (either naturally or with correction)
- Travel required up to 90%
- Position requires presence directly on the Project Site location with intermittent travel to residence of record
- Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, balance, crouch, crawl, and climb to perform job tasks
- Ability to work at heights
- Ability to maintain physical strength and stamina
- Ability to perform this task repetitively and continuously for several hour intervals
- Ability to evaluate information based on measurable standards
- Ability to see details in objects or drawings and recognize slight differences in shapes and shadings
- Ability to visualize objects in three dimensions from drawings
- Ability to coordinate the use of eyes, hands, and feet
- Ability to work under production schedule pressure
- Attain set standards of accuracy
- Be able to perform duties in a safe manner
- Common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers, multiply and divide with 10's and 100's and ability to perform these operations using units weight measurement and volume
