Job Summary
Conduct advocacy training and organize community engagement projects focused on gun violence prevention. Engage with lawmakers to discuss legislation, network with activists, and implement locally focused initiatives like voter drives or town halls. Participate in in-person and virtual trainings across Colorado, including lobbying sessions and orientation meetings. Complete a substantive community project with staff support and maintain regular mentorship check-ins. Travel throughout the state for all program-related activities, with costs covered by GIFFORDS. Join the Ambassador Program post-fellowship to represent the organization at legislative and media events.
Required Qualifications
- Willing to travel throughout Colorado for all listed trainings
- Able to attend the entirety of all trainings
- Have strong ties to Colorado and plan on remaining in Colorado for the foreseeable future
- Have a demonstrated interest in politics, community organizing, activism, or volunteerism
- Be eager to learn new skills and open to different points of view
- Be passionate about fighting gun violence and willing to work with others towards this shared goal
