Job Summary
College Transition Specialist responsible for developing and delivering postsecondary readiness programs for high school students and KS alumni, including financial-aid guidance, scholarships information, and bridging activities. Works with counselors, partners, students, and ʻohana to empower alumni to pursue postsecondary education; designs workshops and programs, engages stakeholders, coordinates matriculation life skills and career-readiness activities, analyzes student data to support persistence and transfer success, and builds relationships with college and community partners to ensure equitable access and opportunities for Native Hawaiian learners. Travel may be involved to various locations; strong emphasis on equity, inclusion, and community engagement; requires collaboration across KS offices and external partners to support alumni and students in pursuing higher education.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in business, education, student personnel administration, counseling, higher education, social work or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of Program Management experience or experience providing direct advising support and career coaching to high school and college aged students
- Ability to communicate and connect with people from diverse ethnic, socioeconomic and professional backgrounds evidenced by strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills that can be adapted to serve the communication needs for a variety of stakeholders
- Capacity to plan, create and deliver dynamic and motivational presentations
- Willingness to learn and exhibit a commitment to an improved, high-quality education system for Native Hawaiian learners
