Job Summary
Research, report, and produce compelling content for the Oklahoma Sooners, covering top programs in the highly competitive Southeastern Conference. Provide thoughtful analysis of complex issues and use video, photos, and social media to spotlight breaking news and high-interest events. Produce content in alternative forms tailored to mobile, desktop, and social media platforms, using real-time metrics to respond to user demand. Team with columnists and the OU beat writer to lead coverage of basketball, baseball, softball, and gymnastics as audience interest demands. This role requires a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to meet tight deadlines while traveling as needed. Based in the Oklahoma City metro area, the reporter will grow an audience through great content and smart use of multimedia.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- Three to five years of professional journalism experience
- High-level writing, communication and time management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work well on deadline and use multimedia to supplement their reach
- Demonstrated track record for keen news judgment, ethical decision-making and fair play
- Valid driver's license
- Reliable transportation
- Minimum liability insurance required by state law
- Must be able to meet tight deadlines
- Must be able to travel as needed
- Must be based in the Oklahoma City metro area
- Must be authorized to work in the applicable location
