Job Summary
College Laboratory Assistant 2 – Nursing supports nursing students by managing simulation and Practice Lab activities, maintaining labs, controlling inventory, preparing and operating simulation equipment, and assisting with instructional use of lab resources. The role provides training and feedback to nursing faculty, reinforces course content, and offers administrative support to the nursing department. The position operates with considerable autonomy under direction from Nursing Faculty and the Dean of Nursing. Typical schedule includes part-time hours (24 hours/week during academic terms; 16 hours/week in summer) with responsibilities across fall, spring, and summer sessions. The role emphasizes student learning in simulated environments and requires collaboration with faculty, staff, and healthcare professionals.
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary or industry certification/diploma/degree or relevant licensure in Nursing Sciences
- Current unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN) License
- One year of teaching/tutoring experience in Nursing Sciences OR Four years of work experience in Nursing
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing (preferred)
- Prior simulation experience (preferred)
- Prior experience within the Minnesota State System (preferred)
- Prior experience teaching in classroom, laboratory, or clinical nursing programs (preferred)
- Effective communication in oral and written form with diverse individuals
- Ability to address problems pertaining to operation of lab/simulation equipment and software
- Ability to apply creative approaches to decision-making, lab/simulation preparation, and resource utilization
- Must be able to accept work in the United States
