Job Summary
Observe and assist Deputies in daily law enforcement tasks including investigations, crime scene work, fact finding for reports, and uniform patrol. Participate in training exercises covering legal processes, policing strategies, and procedural justice while gaining exposure to body cameras, forensic tools, and communication systems. Ride-alongs with Deputies or assist with administrative duties, with opportunities to engage in special operations like community outreach and youth crime prevention. Work under mentorship from experienced staff across various units such as Warrants, Financial Crimes, and Courtroom Security. Applicants must be current college Juniors or Seniors in a Criminal Justice program, provide academic approval, and pass background checks. This non-compensated program offers academic credit and a service letter upon completion.
Required Qualifications
- Applicants must be at least 18 years old
- Applicants must be able to move freely without assistance
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in a Criminal Justice or law enforcement-related degree program
- Applicants must have permission or approval from a school professor, Dean, or program administrator
- Applicants must not have a background or be in a current position that is considered disqualifying
- Applicants must be able to move freely without assistance
- Applicants must agree to have criminal, credit, education and employment history checks conducted
- Truth verification examination may be required to validate information provided during the selection process
- Post employment job offer medical examination and drug test is required
- No illegal marijuana use in the last 12 months
- No use of other illegal drugs in the last 24 months
