Job Summary
Teach 25 high school students Python, machine learning, and AI concepts as part of a 4-week summer academy, collaborating with a team of three interns and a supervising classroom teacher. Responsibilities include reviewing curriculum with the Program Director, providing one-on-one guidance, helping students select and develop a project idea, and supporting diverse learning styles while managing time and coordinating with teammates. The role requires an active pursuit or completion of a BA/BS in CS or related field, programming experience, data science/ML/AI exposure, effective communication, and prior teaching or mentoring experience. Schedule includes July 6–9 (Mon-Fri, 9:00 a.m.–3:15 p.m.) traveling to UMass Lowell, and July 13–30 (Mon-Thu, 9:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.) at Burlington High School; hourly rate $26. Start date July 6, 2026.
Required Qualifications
- Declared or Intended BA or BS in computer science or a related field by the start of the program
- Experience with at least one programming language and have project experience
- Experience with data science, machine learning, and AI agents
- Good communication skills
- Previous teaching, tutoring or mentoring experience, especially in computer science is strongly preferred
- Ability to adapt to various learning styles and respect for individual differences of students
- Must be able to collaborate with other team members and share classroom responsibilities
- Strong time management, organizational and communication skills
