Job Summary

Monitor student academic progress, attendance, and skills through individual interviews to develop personalized college and career plans. Collaborate with NYCPS School Guidance Counselors to align support strategies, advocate for student rights, and facilitate college visits, career exploration, and program events. Provide timely interventions for functional barriers, refer to mental health services as needed, and engage family members to address performance obstacles. Maintain up-to-date resources on scholarships and financial aid while building relationships with schools, employers, and professional organizations. Work Monday–Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings with some flexibility based on program needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field
  • Minimum 3 years of direct service experience working with youth and young adults in academic advisement, counseling, intervention, or youth development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective conflict resolution skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Satisfactory background check, fingerprint clearance, and health screening
  • Monday–Wednesday, 12:15 p.m.–8:15 p.m.; Thursday, 11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.; and Friday, 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
  • Some flexibility based on program needs

Desired Qualifications

  • Bilingual in Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali, or other languages relevant to community needs
