Job Summary
College Admissions Coach at Prepory (Hybrid, Part-Time): Provide end-to-end counseling for high school students on college admissions, including regular 60-minute advising sessions via Zoom, managing deadlines, and guiding students in building a balanced college list. Responsibilities include communicating with students and families, assigning tasks to maximize success, responding to inquiries, occasional in-person work around the Philadelphia area, mentoring students through writing processes (personal statements, essays, résumés), giving feedback on résumés and activities lists, and participating in biweekly coach meetings. The role requires collaboration with Lead Coach and Director teams, and maintaining updates on student progress. Ideal candidates have strong knowledge of the U.S. college admissions process, demonstrated organizational skills, ability to manage multiple students, and a commitment to approximately 20 hours per week over a one-year period, with availability during after-school hours and weekends; compensation ranges from $24.00/hr to $32.75/hr and may involve remote and in-person elements.
Required Qualifications
- Graduated from or worked at a top 50 university or top 20 liberal arts college
- Former college admissions officer experience is preferred but not mandatory
- Detailed knowledge of the U.S. college admissions process, familiarity with universities and colleges, and willingness to stay current with changes in the college admission process
- Experience in an educational or academic support role (teaching, AmeriCorps, research, etc.)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and students
- Availability during typical after-school hours and on weekends, and in some instances, availability to meet with students in international time zones
- Efficient time management, organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to commit to work with students for one year or the end of the admission cycle
- Expected commitment: approximately 20 hours per week.
