Job Summary
College Access Mentor Specialist leads mentorship and programming for students in grades 6–8, delivering bi-weekly mentorship, identity-centered activities, open study hall, and family engagement to foster long-term college-going culture. The role owns site culture, coordinates Brotherhood-focused programming, tracks student engagement, and supports data management in Salesforce. AmeriCorps service term, full-time, with expected daily presence on a local school campus and adherence to program guidelines; requires strong communication, multitasking, and ability to engage families and school staff. The position includes on-site coordination, program facilitation, and a pathway toward potential future full-time employment within IYT.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required
- Experience: Patience, warmth, and genuine enthusiasm for working with middle or high school-age youth
- Preferred: Tutoring, mentorship, or youth development experience
- Enrollment in or completion of a college degree program preferred
- Must meet AmeriCorps eligibility requirements (U.S. citizenship or lawful permanent resident status; background check)
