Job Summary
Remote-based Accounts Receivable Collector (Collector, CBO) responsible for follow-up on intermediate outstanding claims and appeals, phone patient payments and payment arrangements, and performing billing-related tasks such as claim edits, charge corrections, and claims re-files. Requires knowledge of CPT/ICD-9, healthcare insurance processing, Medicare/Medicaid guidelines, strong math, data gathering, and analytical skills, plus experience in health-care receivables and vendor training. Role emphasizes accuracy (>=90%), adherence to policies, and collaboration with physicians, office staff, and leadership to ensure efficient revenue cycle operations. Includes responsibilities like reviewing vendor clarification logs, handling patient inquiries, researching accounts for adjustments, and contributing to process improvements and team training.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or equivalent
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in a healthcare insurance receivables environment
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field preferred
- Two - three years collection experience required
- Two years posting, coding or accounts receivable collection experience in health care organization is preferred
