Job Summary
Monitor tenant accounts to identify past-due balances and collection trends, then contact residents regarding delinquent accounts via phone, email, text, and written notices. Negotiate payment arrangements, maintain accurate records of all activities, and prepare accounts for eviction proceedings or third-party collections when necessary. Generate weekly and monthly accounts receivable reports while collaborating with leasing, accounting, and property management teams to reduce delinquency rates. Ensure strict compliance with federal, state, and local landlord-tenant laws and company policies throughout all interactions.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree
- 2+ years of collections, property management, accounts receivable, or related experience
- Experience in residential or commercial rental/property management
- Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities
- Ability to handle difficult conversations professionally and respectfully
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and property management software (such as AppFolio, Buildium, Yardi, Rent Manager, or similar)
- Strong attention to detail and confidentiality
- Knowledge of Fair Debt Collection practices and landlord-tenant regulations
- Ability to analyze financial reports and aging accounts
- Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Customer service mindset with the ability to maintain professionalism under pressure
