Job Summary
The Collections Specialist will manage severely delinquent vehicle-secured and consumer loan accounts, oversee the end-to-end collateral recovery process, and serve as the primary liaison for repossessions, vendor management, and specialized legal accounts. Responsible for recovery activities in compliance with FDCPA, state laws (MA/NH), and internal policies; will prepare and present repossession reports, coordinate auction/disposition, review bankruptcy/estate processes, maintain meticulous documentation, and advocate for members across channels while ensuring prompt, professional responses.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
- Three to four years of dedicated experience in first-party collections, with a specialized focus on collateral recovery and high-stage delinquency
- Strong working knowledge of FDCPA, FCRA, bankruptcy codes, and regional state collections laws (including MA and NH)
- Proficiency in core banking/collections software, alongside standard business applications (Excel, Word, Teams, Outlook)
- Excellent de-escalation and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage time-sensitive legal documentation
