Job Summary
Manage the full collections cycle for an assigned portfolio of commercial accounts by contacting customers via phone, email, and written correspondence to address short payments, non-payment of invoices, and account discrepancies. Research credit and accounting records to resolve disputes, collaborate with internal departments including Sales, Billing, and Accounts Payable to facilitate timely payment, and negotiate realistic schedules for resolving past due balances. Maintain accurate records, generate monthly statements, and identify accounts requiring escalation to the Credit Manager. Perform routine collection activity with consistent daily outreach and manage sales tax documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's degree or coursework in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred
- Equivalent work experience in accounts receivable, collections, or accounting
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with customers and internal staff at all levels
- Persistence and composure under pressure
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems
- Ability to learn proprietary software
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to maintain productivity in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
