Job Summary
Establish an aged receivables ownership model defining account owners by client, practice, and segment, then execute escalation paths and resolution playbooks to prioritize material balances and ensure payment timing. Develop structured operating cadences for monthly, quarterly, and year-end campaigns with clear reporting and accountability. Scale collections from targeted intervention to broad actions, leading the identification and resolution of high-dollar, complex risks. Build tools and reports to surface emergent risks early, negotiate directly with clients on AR workouts including payment plans and settlements, and manage relationships with external payment providers. Translate firm financial policy into practical execution tools while coaching Revenue Management and Account Managers on client assessment and negotiation. Exercise defined decision authority over credit actions within thresholds, escalating balances above those limits to governing authorities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 7 years of experience in collections at a big law firm
- At least 4 years in firm wide collections management role
- Equivalent experience to the above requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, business, information technology, or related field
- Strong financial judgment
- Comfort operating in high-stakes professional services environment
- Excellent negotiation skills
- Ability to handle difficult client or partner conversations without becoming rigid, emotional or deferential
- Operational discipline: acts independently, investigates thoroughly, demonstrates resourcefulness, follows through, tracks commitments, closes loops, and helps ensure clarity in the Firm's collections program
