Job Summary

Coordinate reading room appointment services and respond to high-volume reference inquiries using specialized databases and print resources. Assist researchers with online catalogs, finding aids, and request systems while ensuring timely delivery of materials. Compose template responses for staff and assign queries to subject specialists. Monitor researchers using collection materials, alerting staff to potential security issues involving rare items. Interpret public services and security policies for students, faculty, and visitors. Collaborate with the Head of Research Services to assess services and streamline operating procedures. This full-time on-site role in Ithaca, NY, requires core hours of 8am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • up to 2 years of relevant experience

  • Demonstrated computer skills (standard office software packages, database searching, basic file manipulation)

  • Experience in a special collections library, academic library, museum, archives, or historical society
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of LibAnswers
  • Knowledge of Aeon
  • Full-time employment (39 hours/week)
  • Based in Ithaca, NY
  • Fully on-site work arrangement
  • Core hours Monday to Friday, 8am to 4:30pm
