Job Summary
Set up and operate the press to coin metal, installing and aligning dies according to specifications. Load machine nests and adjust ram stroke, then position work pieces against fixtures. Use a fork truck to move gondolas from storage racks to the press. Start the press, observe operation to detect misalignment or malfunction, and perform preventative maintenance. Inspect work pieces for conformance to specifications, correct errors, and maintain overall machine cleanliness by wiping down oil and chips. Wash pans as needed to keep the process running. Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Ability to understand & carry out routine written & oral instructions & to work with little or no supervision
- Ability to learn & perform repetitive tasks quickly
- Ability to read calipers, micrometers, and height gages
- Accuracy & knowledge of machine functions
- Ability to operate fork truck
- Ability to regularly stand, move and/or lift up to 20 lbs. and occasionally up to 50 lbs.
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
- Strong math & mechanical aptitude
