Job Summary
Greet customers warmly, learn their names, and take orders at the counter or over the phone while assisting with product inquiries. Prepare and replenish coffee shop products, monitor freshness, and follow production lists to stay ahead of daily needs. Handle food safely, keep the work area clean and neat, and run the department register to process payments. Check in products, put items away, review invoices, and remove trash promptly. Maintain compliance with dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies while working alongside teammates to ensure a smooth experience. This role requires following written and verbal instructions, using basic math skills, and communicating clearly in a fast-paced environment. No prior experience is needed; training is provided.
Required Qualifications
- ability to safely use sharp knives and blades for food preparation
- exposure to heat- and burn-related hazards associated with cooking, baking, or grilling equipment
- ability to operate a delivery vehicle in accordance with applicable DOT standards
- ability to follow written and verbal instructions with confidence
- ability to use basic math skills for simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording
- ability to communicate clearly with customers and teammates in a friendly, helpful way
- ability to stay organized and keep up with the pace of a busy coffee shop environment
- ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas
- ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning/sanitation duties
- ability to maintain compliance with Hy-Vee's dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies
- ability to successfully complete a pre employment drug screen
