Job Summary
Responsible for accurate and timely coding of professional and/or hospital charges/claims by abstracting information from the electronic medical record for compliant claim submission. Provide educational feedback to professional providers from audited batches to ensure compliance with coding and billing requirements established by payors. Maintain communication with Supervisors/Managers about daily progress and issues related to coding and any provider-related problems. Travel to office locations for training and follow-up as needed. Ensure follow-up staff have information for outstanding claims or recording of charges.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Five years’ experience with professional billing and coding required
- Coding background and ability to pass internal tests
- Certified Professional Coder - CPC Certification or Certified Coding Associate Coder – CCA Certification
- Driver’s license and access to a car for travel to office locations for training
