Job Summary
Coding Specialist Certified: responsible for evaluating medical records and documentation, providing clinical abstracts and assigning ICD/CPT4/HCPCS codes in accordance with guidelines. Works with clinicians to clarify missing records, facilitates accurate coding to support reimbursement, and contributes to quality improvement via data collection and process changes. Maintains confidentiality of patient, personnel, and proprietary information, adheres to safety standards, and meets coding deadlines. Proficient in anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and software/tools including EHR/PM systems and Microsoft Office. May participate in occasional in-person meetings while primarily remote but requires residence in the Tucson, AZ metropolitan area.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED or Associate’s degree or equivalent
- Minimum one year related experience
- CPC or CCS required
- Fingerprints clearance (Arizona DPS Level 1)
