Job Summary
Senior inpatient and outpatient coder assigns ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes using 3M computer assisted coding software, abstracts coded data from Epic, and ensures DRG/APR-DRG accuracy. The role covers inpatient and outpatient service lines, maintains established productivity and quality standards, and collaborates with leadership, clinical and financial teams. Responsibilities include coding per guidelines, generating APCs, educating staff on coding guidelines, and participating in process improvements. Remote-work environment referenced; primary location listed as Grand Rapids with other Michigan sites supporting remote work.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 2 years of relevant experience coding
- CRT-Coding Specialist (CCS) - AHIMA
- CRT-Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) - AHIMA
- CRT-Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) - AHIMA
- CRT-Professional Coder – AAPC / American Academy of Professional Coders
- CRT-Outpatient Coder, Certified (COC) CPC – Certified Professional Coder
