Coder Inpatient

Job Summary
Inpatient coder responsible for abstracting, coding, sequencing, and interpreting clinical information from inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, pro fee and clinical medical records across acute care specialties (cardio, neuro, orthopedics, pulmonary, gen med, gen surg), OB, and psyche. Must be proficient with Epic and 3M, assign principal/secondary diagnoses and procedures with accurate sequencing, and use coding principles to support reimbursement, research, epidemiology, and quality measures. Produces ~2 charts per hour with a 95% accuracy target (DRG, Pdx, PCS, SOI, ROM). Works under limited supervision with initial 8:00–4:30 MST training; afterward, schedule may include evenings/weekends. Requires AHIMA/APAC or AHIMA-certified program completion and appropriate certifications; HIPAA/compliance-aligned duties; remote home-office work environment.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of an AAPC or AHIMA-approved Coding Certificate Program
- minimum of two to four years of current production coding experience in both acute care and profee
- Certificates: CPC, COC, CIC, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, and/or CCS-P
