Job Summary
Code all Huntsville Hospital medical records with ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT-4 codes for quality assessment and billing purposes. Abstract key data elements according to medical record review criteria and perform coding quality assurance as needed. Maintain confidentiality while working in a fast-paced environment that requires prioritizing and changing tasks frequently. Utilize computer, word processing, spreadsheet software, fax machine, and copy machine to complete daily duties. CCS certification and anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology knowledge are required for this role.
Required Qualifications
- HS/GED
- CCS certification (certified coding specialist)
- Must have excellent communication skills
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment
- Must be able to prioritize and change tasks frequently and quickly
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality
- Must be able to use computer
- Must be able to use word processing software
- Must be able to use spreadsheet software
- Must be able to use fax machine
- Must be able to use copy machine
Desired Qualifications
- Post high school education in anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology
- ICD-10-CM/PCS or CPT coding experience in hospital or physician's office
