Job Summary
Coder II at Denver Health codes and abstracts medical record documentation to assign diagnoses, procedures, and modifiers for statistical classification and reimbursement; uses coding references and electronic tools, participates in training, maintains credentials, and meets productivity and accuracy standards while upholding confidentiality. Role requires 1-3 years of medical coding experience, CPC or CCS certification, and residing in Colorado. Shift is regular daytime hours with comprehensive benefits; pre-employment drug screen required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- 1-3 years work experience in medical coding
- 2 years medical coding by abstracting and assigning diagnosis, procedures and modifiers in a multi-specialty facility
- CPC - Certified Professional Coder - AAPC or CCS - Certified Coding Specialist - AHIMA
- Strong knowledge of coding guidelines and ability to apply them
- Ability to pass a coding proficiency pre-hire test with 75% or higher accuracy
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Active knowledge of coding references and software applications
