Job Summary
Coder II analyzes IP/OP/Recurring/SDC records, codes per ICD-10-CM and CPT rules to create APC/DRG group assignments, reviews and audits charge capture, conducts data quality reviews on outpatient encounters, and provides training in coding practices for outpatient reimbursement. Requires an Associates degree in health information services and AHIMA RHIA/RHIT or CCS certification. Works under general supervision with responsibilities including identifying documentation gaps, querying physicians, and ensuring compliance with APC mandates; proficient with coding software and HIPAA PHI handling.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Associates degree in health information services discipline required
- Experience: None required
- License/Certification: AHIMA RHIA, RHIT or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required
- Strong computer skills
- Training background in coding and reimbursement
- Ability to apply official coding guidelines
