Job Summary
Coder II responsible for abstracting data in compliance with policies and assigning accurate ICD-10 diagnoses and CPT procedure codes. Uses a practice management system to track demographics and services for all scheduled and unscheduled surgical cases, coordinates with physicians and staff to obtain clinical documents, and ensures appropriate billing. Provides education to clinical areas on documentation and coding to achieve accurate billing and maintains effective communication with providers regarding coding issues. Education preferred includes a high school diploma/GED or equivalent; CCS-P or CPC credential.
Required Qualifications
- CCS-P or CPC credential
- Minimum of three years of provider coding and medical terminology experience with knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS
- Experience with coding software
- Experience with remote coding preferred
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes
- Ability to work independently
- Excellent attention to detail
