Job Summary
Review codes assigned to medical diagnoses and clinical procedures at the second level. Assign diagnostic and procedure codes based on abstracted information from the medical record using ICD10-CM, ICD10 PCS, and CPT. Utilize an encoder and apply knowledge of payer requirements related to diagnostic and procedural coding. Maintain excellent organizational skills while working under pressure in a hospital setting. This advanced coding position supports OakBend Medical Center's commitment to exceptional care through accurate documentation and compliance.
Required Qualifications
- High School Degree or equivalent
- 2 years of experience in a hospital setting coding both inpatient and outpatient
- Certification in RHIA, RHIT, or CCS
- Ability to code utilizing ICD10-CM, ICD10 PCS and CPT
- Experience with an encoder
- Knowledge of payer requirements related to diagnostic and procedural coding
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work under pressure
