Job Summary
Coder I – Uvalde Memorial Hospital, Uvalde, TX. In this role, you will accurately assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes to diagnoses and procedures based on medical documentation, collaborate with providers to clarify documentation and ensure complete, compliant records, and complete coding within four business days to meet departmental goals. Maintain at least 95% coding accuracy and adhere to regulatory and payer guidelines, use EMR and abstraction tools to support claim submissions, monitor workflow to avoid delays, and assist clinic staff with coding updates and process improvements. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent; one year of hospital/clinic coding experience preferred; certification (CCS, CIC, CPC, or COC) required within two years of hire; proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and EMR systems; strong communication and detail orientation; ability to work independently while supporting clinic staff with questions and education. Required Qualifications
