Job Summary
Conduct building code inspections and enforcement activities within Ontario County, maintaining a valid New York State Operator's license throughout employment. Perform duties under a provisional basis pending successful completion of a civil service exam and subsequent Rule of Three selection for permanent status. Complete mandated training established by the New York State Department of State. Requires an associate degree in a construction or drafting field, or equivalent high school diploma with two years of experience in building code inspection and enforcement.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of an Associate Degree, or higher, in Mechanical Technology, Construction Technology, Construction Administration, Construction Management, Architectural Technology, Architectural Drafting, Engineering Technology, Mechanical Drafting, Computer Aided Drafting or a closely related field
- Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma
- Two (2) years of full-time paid experience in building construction administration or management, building code inspection and/or enforcement
- An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (1) and (2) above
- Possession of an appropriate New York State Operator's license at the time of appointment
- Maintenance of such license throughout the tenure of employment in the position
- Completion of mandated training as established by the New York State Department of State
