Job Summary
Perform building code analysis and prepare detailed compliance reports for commercial, residential, and mixed-use developments. Interpret the Ontario Building Code and National Building Code of Canada to advise project teams on strategies during planning, design, and construction. Review architectural and engineering drawings for compliance, conduct occupant load and fire separation reviews, and support permit submissions by responding to plan review comments. Participate in meetings with architects, developers, engineers, and Authorities Having Jurisdiction while staying current with regulatory changes. Mentor junior staff and contribute to technical knowledge sharing within the team.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in building code consulting, building regulations, or a related discipline within the building industry
- Strong knowledge of the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and National Building Code of Canada (NBCC)
- Experience working on commercial, residential, institutional, healthcare, industrial, or mixed-use building projects
- Ability to interpret architectural and engineering drawings
- Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment

Desired Qualifications
- Certification such as CBCO, BCIN, CBO, or equivalent is considered an asset
- Experience with alternative solutions, fire and life safety consulting, or performance-based design
- Previous consulting engineering or code consulting experience is highly desirable
