Job Summary
Conduct pre-application consultations, technical reviews, and site inspections for zoning, floodplain, and private wastewater system compliance. Evaluate applications, approve or deny permits, investigate ordinance violations, and issue citations. Coordinate public hearings, draft reports and legal notices, and educate developers and municipal officials on regulations. Maintain accurate records, manage the POWTS inventory and maintenance tracking program, and prepare ordinance updates. Perform wetland determinations and soil suitability assessments for wastewater siting.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Urban or Regional Planning, Natural Resources, Geography, Landscape Architecture, or Public Administration
- At least two (2) years of progressive, relevant work experience
- Valid driver's license
- WI Private On-site Wastewater Treatment System (POWTS) Inspector certification within six (6) months of employment
Desired Qualifications
- WI Certified Soil Tester credential within one (1) year of employment
