Job Summary
Develop and maintain COBOL-based applications within a mainframe environment in a full-time onsite role. The position supports healthcare claims processing and data interchange (HIPAA X12) with experience across COBOL, CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ, JCL, Easytrieve, APS Code Generator, and related tools. The candidate will collaborate in a fast-paced, project-oriented environment, provide supporting services to ensure timely delivery, and be capable of passing a C-2 security clearance. On-call responsibilities and close coordination with a small team are expected. A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/IT or related field with at least 6 years of relevant experience is required; degree equivalency options are allowed. The role requires strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills and the ability to work onsite in Columbia, SC.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
- 4 years of job-related experience or 2 years plus associate’s degree in related field (Degree Equivalency)
- 6 years of experience in application development, systems testing or related fields
- C2 Eligibility Required
- Role: Fully Onsite
- Must pass Information Systems background/Credit Check during pre-screens
- COBOL proficiency
- Experience with HIPAA X12 transactions (837/835/270/271/276/277)
- Mainframe/Host systems knowledge (CICS, DB2, IMS, MQ, JCL, Easytrieve)
- Experience with EDIG/NDM/FTP/VPN
- Ability to communicate effectively and work under pressure
- Team-oriented with strong interpersonal skills
- Able to work on-site in Columbia, SC
