Job Summary
Conduct installation, splicing, testing, and maintenance of aerial and underground coaxial cable systems for telecommunications networks. Prepare, terminate, and test hardline and coaxial cables while installing connectors, taps, splitters, amplifiers, and nodes. Troubleshoot outages, signal degradation, and service interruptions using RF testing equipment, signal level meters, and TDRs. Read network prints, maps, and construction drawings to coordinate with supervisors, crews, and customers on project status. Document work, test results, and materials accurately while maintaining vehicles, tools, and equipment. Participate in emergency restoration efforts and after-hours callouts as required. Travel to various locations, adhering to OSHA and customer safety policies.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Ability to climb ladders, poles, and work in aerial environments
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to kneel, bend, crawl, and work in confined spaces
- Ability to distinguish wire colors
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and on-call schedules when required
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
Desired Qualifications
- 2+ years of coax splicing experience
- Experience working within CATV, broadband, or telecommunications networks
- Knowledge of HFC architecture and coax distribution systems
- Experience operating RF testing and signal analysis equipment
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- SCTE certifications
- Bucket truck experience
- CDL or ability to obtain one
- Experience with Comcast, Charter, Lumen, Ziply, Astound, or other broadband providers
- Experience with node segmentation, balancing, and network activation
