Job Summary
Coating Process Engineer responsible for improving and maintaining coating processes in glass manufacturing by analyzing data to enhance production uptime, process capability, and product quality. Duties include creating and maintaining Processes of Record (POR), monitoring variable trends, providing technical support and training for coating operations, troubleshooting equipment and process problems, ensuring coating meets production standards, developing PFMEA and reaction plans for critical variables, collaborating with R&D to implement ICAP and FASTSCAN, and driving continuous improvement through Lean/Six Sigma methods (5S, Kanban, Quick Kaizens, GEMBA walks). The role also emphasizes safety compliance, environmental stewardship, 5S housekeeping, KPI establishment, and cross-functional liaison with maintenance, quality, and management. Requires travel and the ability to work in hot environments; top competencies include Innovation and Change, Strategic Thinking, and Empowering & Developing others.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Excellent writing skills for reports, policies, procedures, and specifications
- Excellent planning/coordination skills
- Self-directed team member with a positive attitude
- Demonstrated ability to perform tasks on the job training or practical applications
- Experience with SPC and data analysis software preferred
