Job Summary
Coach all phases of girls' basketball, including administration of contests, supervision of locker rooms, and attendance at all practices. Drive team vans and be available for home and away contests, which may include Saturday commitments. Maintain strong team discipline and sportsmanship while adhering to CPSD and WIAA handbook standards. Complete required training, fingerprinting, and hiring paperwork with Human Resources prior to stepping on the field to receive the seasonal stipend. Work involves considerable physical activity, outdoor exposure, and irregular hours.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid and up-to-date First Aid/CPR certification prior to beginning coaching experience
- Valid Washington driver's license and proof of insurance
- Meet coaching certification standards as set forth by CPSD and the WIAA
- Fingerprints prior to beginning coaching experience at the expense of the employee (Washington State Patrol and FBI Background Clearance)
- Head coach must be at least 21 years of age
- Assistant coach must be at least 19 years of age
- Capable of coaching all phases of the sport
- Need to attend all practices
- Be able to drive team vans
- Available for home and away contests. This may include some Saturday commitments
- Following all coaching duties listed in CPSD and WIAA handbooks
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Frequent districtwide and statewide travel
- Frequent prolonged and irregular hours
- Outdoor exposure to sun and heat
- Considerable physical activity
- May require handling of objects that can weigh up to 50 lbs
- Work involves exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
- Afternoon, evening and some weekend work is required
- Complete all training required for the position and the necessary hiring paperwork (online application, I-9, fingerprinting, SafeSchools training, etc.) with Human Resources prior to stepping on the field/court
- Be hired and working by the eighth (8th) practice of the season
Desired Qualifications
- Current certificated employee of CPSD
- Previous participation in the sport
- Previous coaching experience
- AFFILIATION: Athletics and Activities Association/CPEA
