Job Summary
Teach football fundamentals, rules, safety, and fair play while leading practices to prepare players for competition. Monitor scholastic eligibility, maintain documentation for physical exams and parental consent, and report injuries to administration immediately. Ensure all players have proper equipment and take precautions to protect students, facilities, and materials during operations. Maintain good public relations with media, parents, and boosters while modeling ethical behavior and sportsmanlike conduct for the team and community. Build cooperative relationships with staff, administration, and the broader school district environment.
Required Qualifications
- Current First Aid/CPR card
- Successful Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Clearance
- Appropriate certification as determined by WIAA, the state and the District
- Knowledge, compliance and commitment to follow WIAA regulations
- Valid Washington State driver's license or evidence of mobility
- I-9 Employment Eligibility in compliance with the Immigrations Reform and Control Act
- Completion of all district-required trainings within thirty (30) calendar days from hire date
- Ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to organize, set priorities, meet deadlines, make sound decisions, attention to detail, and follow through on a variety of assigned tasks
Desired Qualifications
- 5 years of coaching experience in the K-12 school setting preferred
- Demonstrate knowledge of fundamentals of the game/sport, practice organization, rules, safety, and game management
- Ability to organize and supervise a team program
- Ability to organize and demonstrate skills to athletes
- Ability to communicate in a positive manner with students, parents, staff, the community, and the media
- Ability to motivate a variety of individual personalities toward a successful and positive learning/playing experience
- Ability to analyze the game and to create appropriate training sessions that reflect those observations
- Allow involvement and decision-making of players and student participants to the degree appropriate
- Encourage and recognize positive conduct at student activities
- Model sportsmanlike conduct in dealing with officials and opponents regardless of the circumstances
- Knowledge of proper English grammar, spelling, and usage in both oral and written communication
- Ability to handle confidential matters and information in a professional manner
- Ability to establish cooperative working relationships with district staff to enhance the completion of assigned tasks
- Ability and willingness to upgrade skills to maintain the highest level of efficiency and high-quality work
- Flexible in learning new concepts, cooperates with others, and adapts to a variety of assignments and conditions
- Gains the respect and confidence of students, parents, and staff through modeling appropriate demeanor, behavior, and attire
- Sets and attains high level of expectations with a commitment to using available resources in a way that accomplishment occurs

- At least 21 years of age preferred
- Proof of Immunization preferred (if born 1/1/57 or later)
