Job Summary
Implement and run practices for specific sports dependent on the host site, assist with set-up and break-down during game days, and create curriculum-based activities for assigned grades. Conduct enrichment programs, recognize member successes, and engage in supportive relationships while helping members with academic needs like homework and tutoring. Maintain a clean environment, input program attendance, and mentor groups according to grant requirements. Represent both Coach Across America and host sites during and outside work hours. Possible occasional weekend work is site-dependent. Commit to completing minimum service hours, bi-weekly timesheets, and required trainings. Arrive on time, adhere to dress code, and wear branded t-shirts.
Required Qualifications
- Passion for youth development and mentoring
- Culturally competent with the ability to work with a diverse group of youth (ethnicity and backgrounds)
- Positive, can-do attitude, good work ethic, and the ability to take on new challenges
- Team player
- Must be at least 18 years old
- AmeriCorps is open to U.S. citizens, nationals, or lawful permanent residents
- Must have, or be working towards a High School diploma, GED, or equivalent
- Successful completion of criminal history background checks
- Reliable personal transportation
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs and Google Suite
- Physically fit with the ability to play and participate in activities with members
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Hand-eye coordination is necessary to perform certain duties
- Commit to completion of the minimum required hours of service and training by the last day of the coach contract
- Completion of bi-weekly timesheets
- Attend/participate in Coach Across America orientation, trainings, meetings, service days, and special initiatives
- Must wear Coach Across America branded t-shirts with AmeriCorps logo when coaching and at program sessions and events
- Possible Occasional weekend work (site-dependent)
Desired Qualifications
- Must remain physically fit enough to keep children safe in an emergency
- Occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and may be infrequently required to run
- This is a great position for a college student, recent graduate of high school or college, or retiree interested in national service
