CNS Cashier Assistant, Temporary Hourly

Job Summary
Prepare, cook, and serve meals, salads, and a la-carte items according to standardized recipes while maintaining accurate food preparation documentation. Act as a cashier to collect monies, record sales via a computerized point of sale system, and assist with deposit preparation. Follow sanitation codes to keep kitchen areas, equipment, and dining spaces clean, and perform housekeeping duties such as sweeping, mopping, and washing tables. Provide customer service to students, parents, and school staff while complying with the Wake County Public Schools Child Nutrition Handbook. Participate in on-the-job training for federally reimbursable meal requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Excellent customer service skills
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team member and complete tasks in the absence of clear direction
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations required for completion of records and reports
- Ability to read, interpret, and administer detailed instructions and recipes in large quantities
- Ability to communicate information clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, parents, and the community
- Must be able to use a variety of equipment such as computers, scanners, copiers, and cafeteria/food preparation equipment
- Must be able to communicate effectively
- Requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to forty pounds
- Must be able to work in an office and school cafeteria environment and come into direct contact with school system staff, students, parents, and the community
