Job Summary
Coordinate bed management, admit and discharge patients, and prepare weekly duty rosters to ensure continuity of care in Mary's Ward. Allocate nursing staff by skill-mix and experience, manage locum usage, and oversee meal breaks to maintain ward coverage. Lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams, conduct performance reviews, and handle staff complaints while ensuring adherence to infection control and safety policies. Direct clinical care, supervise auxiliary staff, and participate in metrics audits and research initiatives. Convene regular ward meetings and contribute to strategic planning for urology services.

- Alert Directorate Nurse Manager/Consultants/NCHD's to any problems which hinders the effective management of patients and utilisation of beds
- attend daily bed meetings and weekly length of stay meetings
- Prepare weekly duty rosters of deployed staff
- Allocate nursing staff with appropriate numbers, skill-mix and level of experience
- Advise CNMII and Directorate Nurse Manager when staff levels fall below or are in excess of that considered adequate
- adherence to policies and procedures for the utilisation of locum/agency nurses
- correctly completed documentation
- Arrange meal breaks in such a way that the ward is adequately covered with experienced Nurses
- willing, in an emergency, to share personnel when required with other areas of the Directorate or Hospital
- Guide, support and supervise the nursing staff to enable them to deliver the best possible standards of nursing care
- Lead and motivate staff and influence change in response to a changing health service environment
- Ensure the agreed hospital and specialist policies and procedures are known to and understood by staff and are implemented
- Participate in reviewing and updating existing policies and procedures and developing new policies

- relationships with the Infection Control Team, Occupational Health Department, Fire Officer, Technical and Bio-engineering staff and providers of equipment
- Infection Control and Viral Screening Policies for patients

- Investigate incidents and accidents, and complaints involving patients, staff and visitors
- report these verbally and in writing to the Directorate Nurse Manager

- nursing reports accompany patients who are being transferred to other units/centres
- Contribute to the development of operational and strategic plans for the Ward
