Job Summary
Conduct full-scope midwifery care focusing on antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum stages, including initial assessments, prenatal education, and routine monitoring of vital signs and fetal development. Attend and support natural labor and birth processes, providing postpartum care for mothers and initial newborn assessments while coordinating with licensed providers for comprehensive prenatal needs. Deliver approximately 110 births monthly at the birthing center, assist with cesarean deliveries, and manage an average of 17 outpatient procedures daily. Work 0.75 FTE part-time hours Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with hospital call coverage rotated among the delivery team. Requires current licensure as a certified nurse midwife in both North Dakota and Minnesota, along with CPR certification and American Midwifery Certification Board membership.
Required Qualifications
- Certified Nurse Midwife
- Minimum of 5 years nursing experience in an applicable clinical area
- Current licensure as a registered nurse in both ND & MN
- Current Licensure identifying practitioner as a certified nurse midwife in both ND & MN
- Hold membership with the American Midwifery Certification Board
- Current certification in CPR
- National certification, in applicable area
- Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice
- Must have a current North Dakota RN license identifying practitioner as a certified nurse midwife
- Active member of American College of Nurse Midwives
- Current licensure as a registered nurse in appropriate state
- Current certification in CPR
- National certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB)
- Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice
- Strong communication skills
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts

Desired Qualifications
- Master's Degree (preferred) in nurse midwifery
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
