CNC Turning Center Programmer (ET5)

Job Summary
CNC turning center programmer to design/model friction stir weld tools, plugs, fixtures, and related parts in Solid Edge; convert models to NC code using SURFCAM and manufacture parts using CNC and manual machining. Training provided in handling metalworking hazards and in additional mechanical technician tasks such as crane/rigger work, forklift and aerial lift operation, and working around welding operations. On-site at NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) with occasional travel. Must have Solid Edge CAD and SURFCAM CAM experience; familiarity with DMG Mori Seiki mills, lathes, Haas VF-series mills, Mitsubishi Wire EDM, and Mitsubishi Plunge EDM; three-dimensional programming and aerospace-material machining experience; valid driver’s license and ability to operate in a team environment. Normal hours 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., with minimal overtime (~10%). Proof of US citizenship required. Equal Opportunity employer with comprehensive benefits and educational reimbursement. Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED or equivalent
- Associate's Degree or equivalent (3+ years experience)
- At least 6 years of experience and continuing education (or equivalent)
- CAD/CAM experience (Solid Edge, SURFCAM)
- Experience with DMG Mori Seiki mills/lathes and Haas VF-series
- Mitsubishi Wire EDM and Mitsubishi Plunge EDM
- Ability to convert models to NC code and fabricate parts using CNC/manual machining
- Valid driver’s license and auto liability insurance
- Ability to operate in a mixed office/shop environment and travel infrequently
