Job Summary
Set up and operate CNC Swiss-type lathes to produce precision parts, performing in-process inspections with metrology tools to ensure dimensional accuracy. Read blueprints, technical drawings, and G-code programs while adjusting machine offsets, tooling, and programs to maintain specifications. Troubleshoot machine alarms and tooling issues, conduct routine maintenance including cleaning and lubrication, and document all production activities and quality checks.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2+ years of experience operating CNC Swiss Lathes
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and GD&T
- Strong understanding of G-code and M-code programming
- Ability to perform in-process quality checks using precision measuring tools
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to program G-code directly at the machine control
- Experience with CAM software for generating complex tool paths
- Proficiency in using statistical process control (SPC) for quality monitoring
- Demonstrated ability to train junior operators on machine setup and operation
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
