Job Summary

Oversee a team of 30-50 operators and sorters on two shifts in a machine shop equipped with 20+ Swiss lathes, ensuring production schedules are met and quality expectations are maintained. Review production schedules, engineering specifications, and orders to dictate manufacturing methods, while ensuring operators meet production, quality, and cost targets. Administer policies and drive operational improvements using Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement strategies. Develop complex production schedules months in advance to ensure timely delivery of plastic seals and medical housings. Schedule production to achieve on-time, in-full delivery while fostering a collegial environment that balances accountability with achievement.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive and relevant supervision experience in a related field such as manufacturing, medical devices, industrial, aerospace, or automotive
  • Minimum of seven (7) years of manufacturing process experience with some machine shop (especially Swiss turning) experience
  • Strong leadership experience in a diverse manufacturing environment
  • Experience with complex scheduling
  • Leadership, interpersonal and team building skills
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and tool designs
  • Knowledge of machining operations and equipment, including metallurgy, various tool holders, cutting tools, finishing equipment, and inspection and measurement equipment and methods
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems at their root, independently or as part of a team
  • Understanding of continuous improvement practices
  • Ability to delegate duties as needed
  • Must be able to enter data into a computer by use of a keyboard and mouse
  • Must be able to sit for long periods
  • Occasionally required to stand

  • Frequent lifting and/or moving up to 10 pounds
  • Occasionally lift and/or moving up to 25 pounds
  • Required to reach with hands and arms to handle documents and products
  • Must be able to enter data into a computer by use of a keyboard and mouse and be able to sit for long periods at his/her desk as well as occasionally visit employees throughout the building to gather data and clarify information
  • Access to information subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • Applicant must be a 'U.S. person' as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15), which includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate's degree or higher
  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement practices like Lean or Six Sigma (certification preferred)
